Matthews has compiled a 76-27 record during his tenure as Catholic’s head coach, winning state championships in 2015 and 2017. He is a native of Tullahoma, Tennessee, and played for the Vols from 1990-91 before transferring to Memphis where he set school passing records. He was a seventh-round pick in the 1994 NFL draft, selected by Kansas City.
He played five seasons for the Kansas City Chiefs, Jacksonville Jaguars and Tennessee Oilers.
